CALIFATE OF WESTERN-EUROPE

In 2050 Califate of Western-Europe controls modern France, Spain (Excluding Basque Country) and Gibraltar. It's Size and military power makes it maybe the most powerful country of whole Europe.

History

2018

Following Turkeys succesful war against Greece (2017) and the Islamic congres of Cairo (2018) muslims all around the Europe demonstrate for their rights. In France these demonstrations transform into full scale riots when police forces try to restore order.

2019

The riots of France escalate into civil war as the Basques of Northern-Spain give their support to the rioting Muslims. Muslim Rebels attack into the Southern France from their bases int the Basque country. in the begining they do not advan

Turkey admits the status of Caliph as Caliphate comes to aid it against Greek catholic forces which trie to free Constantinoples.

Eiffel Tower demolished and a giant minaret build on it's place.

2045

The Caliph goes into Background and his oldest son, a supporter of non-radical movement, Grand Vizier Abd-Allah ibn Abd-Said gets de-facto power. Theoretically the Caliph is still the Absolute ruler of the Caliphate

2050

A conflict of power between two sons of Caliph, Abd-Allah and Ali. Ali is a supporter of fundamentalist views and his got the backing of Northern-African Fundamentalists, but most people of the Caliphate support non-fundamentalist movement

Current Political Situation

Countrys ruler Caliph is very old and sick and two of his sons (24 sons and 20 daughters from 21 wives) now compete for the power in Caliphate. Grand Vizier Abd-Allah is more popular of these two. He is a supporter of liberal views and doesn't want war with the Holy Roman Empire. Most of countrys citizens are on side of these liberal views and support him. His main problem is the fact that fundamentalists of North-Africa demand expansion and spreading of the faith. Abd-Allah has a secret agreement with Federal Spacecrafts in order to get Mars for Califate. Federal Spacecrafts is currently mining a secret base in one of the moons of Mars and first shipment of troops is allredy moving towards it. This plan is very secret and almost no one knows about it. Yuonger brother Ali is currently trying to insite hatred against the Holy Roman Empire and he is slowly gaining support.

Population

70 000 000, after the war population lowered as low as 45 000 000 but the country has had high birth rate due to polygamy and population is steadily rising.

Economical situation

Stable. Mainly metal, planetary transportation (Boing) and arms industries (joint corporation between the Caliphate and Federal Spacecrafts). Also manufacturing low-tech parts for spacecrafts (Federal Spacecrafts). Because of the former tax-free status of mega corps the country is also location of many corporate offices, for example the headquarters of Boing. Califate is also a site of luxury goods manufacture, jewelry etc. Wine production is not prohibited in the country and it is controlled by the jewish population of Califate.

Technology

Caliphate has high-tech weapons and planetary transportation equipment. All in all technology level of the country is quite average. At present Caliphate does not have spacecrafts and relative technology at all.

Education: The education level of Caliphate is moderate. Every citizen is obliged to take some form of basic education. Many of them continue their education in high school and universities.

Form of government: Theocratical monarchy. The Country is ruled by a Caliph, who theoretically has absolute control over the Caliphate. In practice different officials of the government (viziers, provincial leaders etc.) have most of the power, but the Caliph can reappoint them anytime he wishes. Currently Caliph Abd-Said is allready old (90yrs) and the power is actually held by his oldest son Grand Vizier Abd-Allah ibn Abd-Said. 5th son of Caliph, Ali, is also rising in power and in tries to contest his brother for the rule of the state and the position of Caliph.

Greatest changes from the modern day: Spain and France have ceased to exist and Caliphate stands in their place. Western europe has become a liberal muslim Theocracy with a hereditary leader. Of the Major cities of France and Spain only Marceilles is destoryed.I was obliterated in a nuclear blast during the civil war. In the area of Marceilles only ruins remain and people living there live by gathering what they can. Marceilles is practically independent as Caliphate has left it alone.

Important geographical features: Alps and Pyrenees are two most significant features of the state. French coast line has moved a little bit inwards due to melting of polar ice caps, but the only effect it really has had is that coastal cities have moved a little bit inwards. In Spain it had virtually no effect as most of Spains shores are high enough. Paris is absolute center of the country. Altough the city has changed a lot it still is a sight to behold. It's High minarettes rise allround the city and control it's peoples movement. Only the Christian slums around the Notre Dame cathedral look old and tardy, but then again they show the history of the city. All other parts are new and clean. The Blue turbaned troopers of Caliph hold order and the city streets are quite safe. Enviromental situation: Enviromentaly biggest change is the nuclear ruins of Marseilles. Also the overall situation has worsened. Quality of air is worse and country heavy industry doesn't help it a bit.

Resources: Califates mineral resources consist mainly of different kinds of metals, mainly silver, zink, iron and also extensive amounts of uranium. Area is also quite fertile and cultivated with same crops as it is in modern times.

Religions Islam is the major religion of Caliphate and about 75% of popolation are muslims. The country also has wealthy jewish (10%), and poor christian (15%) minority. Jews and christians mainly live in their own areas of cities. Christians in slums around citys cathedrals and Jews in wealthy neightbourhoods. Corporations have also own neightbourhoods and some christians and jews live in these. Relations with Other Countries and Corporations As Caliphate is a major power in World it has strained but tolerable relations with most countries. It's notable enemies are christian theocracies of Europe, from whom it is at war with the Greek Catholics and has a bitter cold war with the Holy Roman Empire. It's allies are the Basque country and Islamic countries all around the world. Caliphate has close ties to Federal Spacecrafts and Boing aeronautics. ZPG is non existant in Caliphate as the relation between Caliphate and ZPG are highly strained.
