Canada

In the year 2050 the area of Canada has approximately 60 million inhabitants, as the christian french residents for the most part moved to Québec as a result of the moslem wars. The developed part of Canada is La Fleur de Lisle, that is Ontario and Québec together. Together they form the basis for Canadian culture and prosperity. La Fleur de Lisle is a relatively rich state, mostly because it is self-sufficient when it comes to production of energy. Waterpower has always been the basis of the energy production of Québec, and now after the Hudson dam was built (2005-2033) it can be utilized even better. The megacompany of Poseideon Silli International Inc. owns the greater part of the dam and uses the the now enclosed bay for fish-farming. This is the result of the improvement in water-quality that resulted from the building of the dam. La Fleur de Lisle, called also the State of Lafleure by english-speaking news-agencies, is at the moment one of the biggest fish-procucers in the world.

The Madeleine Islands and the Prince Edward´s Island are the leaders in the fish production of La Fleur de Lisle, although the future is impossible to predict in this area. The turning of the Gulf-Stream is expected in near future and it could be a severe threat to the main industry of the area, if fish populations change or move to different habitats.

The Capital of La Fleur is Québec, center of commerce and culture. The other big city, Montreal, is mostly industrial. At the moment the main companies are recreation- food- and nature-related and the economy of the city is in a slight upswing. Otherwise Montreal is not a particularily pleasant place to live. It is overpopulated and therefore slightly restless, crime is increasing and it is developing into a center for the drug trade from USA.

The only border-crossings to USA are South St. Marie and the city immediately southwards from it. This makes their security measures extremely tight. In spite of this for instance Montreal is suffering from a drug problem that is imported from the USA, although all border-crossers have to go throuhg a very tight security inspection.

Thunderbay is the border city to Minnesota (which is a colony of Greater Finland) and a very peaceful city. The Finns like to go there to ski, to be able to then tell that they have travelled as far as La Fleur de Lisle.

Windsor, a city south of the lake Erie, is an opposite of Thunderbay. It is a city where corporate solos are trained, because it is in constant war with Detroit. Extremely tough block-by-block war is going on because the former car factories of Detroit are controlled by the two gangs that control the whole city (O-Zone and Rednails). They use them to build modified combat vehicles.

The western parts of Canada are almost entirely governed by indians and bigger cities are often badly ghettoed. Indians have reverted to their old customs and have a lively trade of natural resources and furs with La Fleur de Lisle. Otherwise the country is quite badly degenerated, although there are some better areas. The Western-Canadian indians and the large scale eco-terrorist organization, GreenPiece, have made an alliance. The indians are strongly armed, courtesy of Ingram Inc., because GreenPiece and Ingram are co-operating secretly in South-America, using Peru as their base.

Vancouver is the richest and most resident-friendly city in the whole of Canada, and also the capital of Western Canada. It is co-operating closely with the free-trade-city of Seattle. Winnipeg, on the other hand, is badly ghettoed, overpopulated and ruled by anarchy. The police force there is practically non-existent, most residents live in poverty and crime flourishes.

Brandon and Regina are centers of biker gangs. Sometimes there are intensive battles fought in these cities as the gangs go into war for reasons incomprehensible to normal people. Kenora, that originally should have been part of La Fleur de LIsle, voted to stay part of Canada. It has developed into a border city where everyone, at least on the surface, are trading peacefully. Edmonton is mainly a corporate area, the city has big armed forces and is well defended.

These days Calgary is a winter sports center for corporations. There are various winter sport competitions held there and the most popular snack in the town is Beavers Tail.

In the year 2003 the Canadian army tried to conquer Greenland. Greenland has huge natural- and water resources. Thus it was a very tempting target, especially as its owner, Denmark, is so far away. The conquest failed miserably. Denmark called other Scandinavian countries to its aid and their forces, which are specilized in arctic warfare. Together they drove the attackers away with very little losses, mostly because of their magnificent stamina.

The eastern part of Canaca, the province of Quebéc, took the opportunity this gave them and their separatist government declared independence. The state of Ontario joinden them. This new country was named La Fleur de Lisle, in honor of the ancient symbol of Québec. It immediately joined into trade- and defence-agreement with all the Scandinavian countries that had aided Denmark in the Greenland war.

This lead into to the Canadian civil war in the year 2004, because with the separation of La Fleur de Lisle Canada was in danger of losing most of its natural resources. The civil war, however, ended as soon as in 2005 when Scandinavian forces came into La Fleur de Lisles aid and made Canada "an offer it could not refuse." Trade relations between Canada and the Scandinavian countries strenghtened, but soon Canada fell apart as tribal indians took the lead and declared old tribal areas independent. The Western-Canadian cities became free-trade zones and their main task became the trade with tribal indians and corporations.
