The Outpost (Saturn)
Was launched in 2044 by co-operation of the governments of the Earth
and the Moon to study the area around Saturn and to found a spacestation
on one of Saturn moons. The 36 crewmembers are not expected to return
to the Earth, thus the the festitivities before the launch were
enourmous. The group is supposed to reach Saturn by 2060
The Far End Hut (Main Belt)
The Far End Hut was to be one of the strange events in history, which
showed the way of populating space. A group called Space Front Ltd
which was founded near the end of the year 2000, raised great public
support to the colonization of space especially in the USA. To get
them to quiet down, the NASA promised to get seven shuttle maintank
up to orbit for them, so that they could try and build their own
spacestation out of them. The authorities thought that they wouldn't
anyway have the resourses to cause too much trouble, but to their
great surprice the foundation started to launch up equipment and
personel with any launch that they could buy. An even bigger surprise
came out when the entire station started it's way in 2005 towards the
Main Belt between Mars and Jupiter, filled with a bunch of
spacefanatics onboard. The vessel was named The Far End Hut. In a
pressconferance a week after launch, the foundation told where it
had gotten all the money needed to do this project from. They had
made a deal with several companies to transport astroids to Earths
orbit, so that the companies could build spacestations of them.
So the vessel was packed full with industrial machines and 200 eager
pioneers. It arrived in the year 2008 and docked to a suitable astroid
and started to dig huge factoryhalls into the astroid, transforming
it at the same time into a huge spacestation. The machines that they
carried with where used to build big production lines used to produce
industrial robots. At the same time the rest of the foundation studied
suitable robot desings and sent by radio computer programs designed
for robot control. So within a few years, The Far End Hut had two
robot assembly lines which where run by robots. These lines produced
two robots per week.
The first suitable astroid was found by probes only a few months
after arrival, so in 2011 they sent a ten persons habitation module
and 16 robots to the astroid to start packing it up for transportation.
By the help of nuclear and solar power a small factory was set up to
produce strong and flexible steel cables that the robots tiredlessly
spun around the astroid into a huge net. At the same times the humans
mounted with the assistance of a couple of robots the engines in place
on the astroid, that would power it on its way to Earth. Finally the
entire astroid was wrapped up in a plastic substance to keep it from
developing a comet tail.
This way the Far End Hut sent the first astroid toward the Earth in
2013. It arrived safely in 2016 and became a new moon in the sky and
also the first big spacestation.
Life in The Far End Hut is hard and filled with work, unfortunately
also quite dangerous, so of the original crew of 200 there are only
12 left, who have survived through the almost fifty years in space.
But new workers have arrived steadily and now there is a population
of 14 800.
Orbitorium 1 (Mars)
There is not much known about this station. China sent it to Mars 2047
and it should reach there by 2053. A rumour tells that it is a Chinese
military base, sent to Mars to protect Chinese interests there.
Deimos Station (Mars)
The existence of this station has only currently become public
knowledge, as ZPG transported survivors from the Omega6 accident to it.
Apparently it's some sort of ZPG research center.
Mars Station 1 (Mars)
This Station was sent 2022 to Mars by China to study the red planet.
It arrived in the year 2027 and caused a great media cirkus when China
announced that it's spacetechnology have shown it's superiority to
Russia. There was an accident on the station in the year 2032, when a
leak destroyed the entire airsupply of the station. The entire crew
dies, but is replaced by a new crew in 2034.
Amber Zone (Mars)
Space Front Ltd sent this station to Mars 2044. It has a crew of 220
and has as it's mission to study suitable colonisation places and found
two 60 person colonies on the planet. The station then returns to Earth
to pick up the next, much bigger group.
Laikas World (Mars)
The Russians sent this station to Mars in 2039. To the great horror of
humanity it's breaking engines didn't function and caused it to fly past
Mars in 2041. The second try to stop the station at Asteroid Belt failed elso
as the fuel accidentally got dumped into space. Russia is blaming China
of sabotage but that doesn't give much comfort to the crew of 300 people.
- Width: 198 m
- Populace: 468
Marsking (Mars)
Chinas Mars base. It is a fifty persons scientific base which was named
to the glory of Peking. Very little is known about this station.
Sunshine Station (Mercury)
This station was sent 2033 by the Earth and Moon governments to study
the Sun and Mercury, so that sunflares could be spotted earlier. The
station is built on a small astroid with the living quarters placed on
the opposite side from the sun to minimize radiation. The crew consists
of 60 researchers.
Inferno (Venus)
The Earth and Moon governments sent this station in the year 2039 to
study the athmosphere and enourmous greenhouse effect of Venus.
Population 40 persons.
Europa Explorer (Jupiter)
Was sent 2039 by Finland, The Skandinavian Kingdom and Hydrospace to
Jupiters moon Europa. It arrived in 2045 and detached a 10 persons
Hydrospace workteam to the surface of the moon, their mission to build
the Hydrospace 1 base on the surface. The 50 persons who stayed on the
station are studying the moon from orbit.
Io Explorer (Jupiter)
This station was sent 2045 by Finland. The Skandinavian Kingdom and
Fleur de Lisle to study Jupiters moon Io. Some joker among the teknics
wrote before launch, using paint that reacts to spaceradiation, the
text "Suomi-Finland Perkele!". (Perkele being a Finnish curse meaning
Devil). The deed wasn't noticed until it was too late and attempts to
find out who did it was drowned in the hysterical laughing all around
the world. The station gets the unofficial name "Perkele 1" despite the
opposition of the Church. The mission of the ship is to study
possibilites to do robot assisted mining on Io.
Moonlake (Jupiter)
This station was sent to Europe in 2044 by ZPG. It has a crew of 100
persons of which fifty was lowered down on Europas surface to found the
Ice Station base.
Ice Station (Jupiter)
ZPG:s base on Jupiters moon Europa. The 50 persons living there are
constructing an industrial base to export water and space fuel from
the moon.
Hydrobase 1 (Jupiter)
This is Hydrospaces base on Europa, the 10 persons grew has as it's
mission to begin the building of a industrial base for water and fuel
export.
